On January 28, 2025, at the Thongbai Thongpao Conference Room (D-413), the College of Politics and Governance, Mahasarakham University (COPAG), held a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with We Watch Thailand. The collaboration aims to promote youth and public participation in election observation and democratic development.
The MOU was signed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Jeerasak Pokavin, Dean of the College of Politics and Governance, and Mr. Pongsak Jan-on, Director of We Watch. The ceremony was witnessed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somchai Phatharathananunth and Mr. Chatcharin Chaidee, Manager of We Watch.
This 5-year partnership focuses on integrating academic knowledge with practical action through key missions:
Knowledge Promotion: Enhancing understanding of democratic election processes and the role of election observers.
Public Participation: Encouraging youth and the general public to constructively participate in observing elections at all levels to ensure transparency and fairness.
Network Expansion: Developing a strong network of election observers, starting from the Northeastern region and expanding to the national level.
Research & Development: Collaborating on research and formulating policy recommendations to improve the election system and ensure its acceptance.
This collaboration marks a significant step for COPAG in bridging political science theory with real-world practice, providing opportunities for students and the public to be active participants in driving sustainable democracy.
