This continuing project has been conducted by the College of Politics and Governance since 2018 in collaboration with Mahasarakham Provincial Administrative Organization, public schools in Mahasarakham province and the Faculty of Education, Mahasarkham University. The project has a direct involvement with the provincial government which plays a vital role in supervising public schools in the rural areas. The goal of the project is to establish the network of the student volunteers who are active and commit to drive the democracy in their schools and in the long run for the university to be centered in democratic education including the development of self-learning online curriculum for students. The project is established on the principle of democracy with the participation of student volunteers and teachers from the stage of the project’s design, the conducting of activities and the assessment of the project. The responses from all stakeholders have been taken into account for the development of the project throughout the years. So far, the project has been conducted with twenty public schools in Mahasarakham province. It provides a model for democratic education, produces a handbook and develops an online self-learning curriculum suit with the students. This project also relates to the Sustainable Development Goals on peace, justice and strong institutions.
